Everything to know about Blume tea blends

Jul 21, 2022 · beverage · blume · drink · latte · tea

This week's blog is all about Blume teas! Blume creates delicious drinks that are meant to support your health in many different ways. Each latte has a different goal.  All of their blends are specially formulated to support different wellness goals with simple ingredients you can read and benefits you can believe in. We are going to focus on a few of the different blends they offer, the benefits you’ll receive from them, as well as how to make the best latte’s with Blume’s specific blends.

We currently offer 9 different flavors of Blume drinks.

The Blue Lavender Blend is made with lavender, coconut milk, and blue spirulina. This blend is balanced, calming, and smooth. It is formulated to soothe inflammation and settle restlessness. It is caffeine free and perfect to have before bed.

The Beetroot Blend is formulated to boost energy and help you repair naturally. Beets are rich in nitrates, supporting heart health and post-workout recovery. Add this blend to your favorite milk, smoothies, or oatmeal for a superfood boost.

The Turmeric Blend is made to support your immune system, which is ideal for going into fall and winter. It also helps achieve glowy skin and soothes achy joints.

The Glow up Water Elixir is meant to help with gut and skin health, and is my personal favorite. Beauty is an inside job. The gut and skin have an intimate relationship known as the Gut-Skin Axis, which refers to how issues within the gut often first present themselves on our skin. In alliance with Sasha Exter, Blume's holistic wellness BFF, they set out to create a hydrating berry elixir that uses the magic of superfoods to elevate your water intake, lift you up, and keep you glowing from the inside out. The result is a refreshing combination of prebiotic fruits and soothing botanicals, for 100% of your daily dose of Vitamin C. I add a teaspoon to my morning smoothie!

These are just a few of the blends we currently offer in the store.

Making the Blume drinks only requires three steps. First in your mug mix together 1 tsp of your Blume blend of choice, with ⅛ cup of hot water, and ½ tsp of maple syrup or any other liquid sweetener (optional). Next using a milk frother, or whisking by hand, froth 1 cup of steamed milk until fluffy and cloud like. The last step is to pour the steamed milk over your blended mixture and enjoy!

A few tips when making Blume drinks are important. It is important to note first that the spices are not water soluble so some sediment is normal. Using whole ground ingredients means maximizing the nutritional benefit of the ingredients and there will be some sediment and texture. These tips are not to dissolve the blends but rather to suspend them for the best experience.

The first tip is to use high quality milk. Using something like a rich oat milk, barista quality or coconut milk work the best. Almond milk, rice milk, and hemp milk can be on the thin and watery side which makes them difficult to steam and froth. The richer your milk, the better their streaming ability and the better the drink will be. Adding a binder can also help.

Adding a bit of sweetener will help to better suspend the herbs in your drink and prevent sediment from floating to the top or building up at the bottom. Some good ones are stevia, maple syrup, honey, or agave.

If you have a frother for mixing your drink, it will work the best. If not you can also put all the ingredients in a blender together to combine. Adding all the ingredients to a mason jar with a lid and giving them a good shake to mix can work great as well. We currently sell white, purple, and pink Blume frothers if you don’t already have one at home.

The most common mistake made with the Blume lattes is using an excess amount of the blends. Most people are used to using heaping teaspoons of sweetened drink mixes, but Blume's blends have no fillers, which means a little goes a long way. Using ½ a teaspoon can help.

There are some blends that are stronger than others, such as the Blue Lavender and Beetroot blends. Pouring your milk in slowly is another thing that will help for the spices to combine better.

Following these tips will result in you getting the best quality latte from your Blume blends.

Blume also recommends stepping beyond the mug. Recipes like oatmeal, chia bowls, smoothies, and overnight oats all work great with their blends. If texture is your main issue, and the above tips don’t seem to help much, trying them in recipes might work best for you! It will flavor your recipe, and boost your nutrition without leaving behind any graininess.
