What colors should you be wearing?
Finding the right color palette for you can make a huge difference in the appearance of your clothes. Wearing the wrong colors can make a person appear washed out and tired, whereas the proper colors will make you seem vibrant and awake. The colors you wear closest to your face are the most important. When choosing your color palette it is important to find colors that match your skin tone, hair, and eyes. This doesn’t mean you will have to stop wearing your favorite colors as most people can wear any color, but it is the shade and tone of the color that makes all the difference. This simple trick can make you seem younger, more vibrant, and healthier!
Deciding the colors that best match you may seem tricky, but there are only three things you need to pay attention to. The tone of your skin, eyes, and hair. The first step is to determine if you have cool or warm undertones in your skin. You can do this quite easily by checking these three things. First, check your veins while standing in direct sunlight. If they appear to be blue, then you may have cool undertones, if they appear green then you may have warm undertones. The next test is to put a piece of white paper or clothing next to your face. If your face looks pink next to the white then you may have cool undertones, and if your face appears yellow or golden then you may have warm undertones. The last thing to consider is how easily you tan. If you tan easily you most likely have warm undertones. If you burn easily you most likely have cool undertones. If you are having trouble coming to a conclusion on the above tests, or you have a mix of both the cool and warm tone results, then you may have neutral toned skin. Next determine the undertone of your eyes. If you have grey, bright green, blue, or violet eyes then you have cool undertones in your eyes. If your eyes are hazel, brown, or amber then you have warm undertones in your eyes. The last step is to determine the undertone of your hair. If you have black, grey, ashy brown, white, or ashy blonde hair then you have cool tones in your hair. Another trick to finding the undertones in your hair is to determine if you have natural highlights, if you do not then you have cool toned hair. If your hair is chestnut, caramel, rich brown, red, auburn, yellow, or strawberry blonde then you have warm toned hair. If your hair has natural highlights in it then it is most likely warm toned as well. Keep in mind each of your tones for your skin, hair, and eyes to determine which seasons colors look best on you in the next step.
Now that you know your undertones, it is time to determine what season you are. A spring palette looks best on people with warm toned skin, warm toned hair, and cool toned eyes.
A summer palette looks best on people with cool toned skin, cool toned hair, and cool toned eyes.
Autumn color palettes look best on people who have warm toned skin, warm toned hair, and warm toned eyes.
The colors in a winter palette look best on people who have cool skin tones, cool hair tones, and cool eye tones.
